Surface conduction on insulating BaTiO3 crystal suggesting an intrinsic surface electron layer.
We report conduction measurements on the clean, free surface of transparent insulating BaTiO3 single crystals in high vacuum. We find that the insulating BaTiO3 crystals exhibit surface conductance that is dependent on the spontaneous polarization, whereas no conduction perpendicular to the surface is observed. The surface conduction shows semimetallic temperature dependence and persists down t...

متن کاملField emission dependence on the tilted angle of palladium nanogaps for surface conduction electron-emitter displays
The emission efficiency of novel surface conduction electron-emitters corresponding to tilted angles (u) of a nanogap-typed driving cathode is optimised. Among the parameters of the emitter profile, the apex angle is the most significant because the smaller angles induce a higher electric field. The higher electric field then attracts more particles into vacuum and then increases the emission c...
متن کاملLayer-Based Surface Editing
By decomposing a surface into a sequence of levels with different frequency bands, users can manipulate and modify specified levels without affecting others. This idea has been extensively explored with various multi-resolution techniques [KVS99, GSS99]. However, encoding details as local frame displacements, as widely done in multi-resolution techniques, causes two major problems. First, the i...
متن کاملIntrinsic Parameterizations of Surface Meshes
Parameterization of discrete surfaces is a fundamental and widely-used operation in graphics, required, for instance, for texture mapping or remeshing. As 3D data becomes more and more detailed, there is an increased need for fast and robust techniques to automatically compute least-distorted parameterizations of large meshes. In this paper, we present new theoretical and practical results on t...
